Festival de Videoarte 2020

Descripción

Nos enfrentamos a la edición más compleja tras la docena que ya lleva PROYECTOR/Festival de Videoarte. Era de esperar, ¡es la décimo tercera edición! y ésta tendrá lugar, si nos lo permiten, del 9 al 20 septiembre 2020 dispersa por toda la ciudad de Madrid en distintas sedes y espacios.
No queremos hacer una muestra online, pues nuestro festival tiene como elemento diferenciador tratar de mostrar las obras de los artistas con las características que nos solicitan los mismos, lo cual siempre nos lleva a darle una gran importancia a la relación de la obra con el espacio que la acoge y en relación con el propio espectador. Disfrutamos con las videoinstalaciones multipantalla, las obras inmersivas, las que precisan del espectador para ser activadas. También son un gran placer los retos que nos llevan a hacer propuestas en salas tan variadas como son las institucionales, las museísticas, las galerías privadas, los espacios independientes, los antiguos cines porno y sobretodo el uso del espacio público. Las fachadas de edificios como el Medialab-Prado
y las proyecciones en espacios sociales como Esta Es Una Plaza
! nos permiten sorprender y sorprendernos en céntricos barrios de Madrid.
Siempre hemos querido ser un festival multisede, descentralizado, que llegue a diferentes públicos, a amantes del videoarte y a posibles nuevos apasionados, que año tras año nos acompañan y comparten con nosotros 12 días de programación realmente intensa. Unos 12 eventos repartidos en 12 sedes que acogerán una extensa selección de piezas del mejor videoarte contemporáneo nacional e internacional. Además de las sedes ya mencionadas, es siempre un placer contar con nuevas incorporaciones, como son este año White Lab
. También destacamos nuevamente espacios que nos permiten desarrollar obras nuevas, intervenciones y videoinstalaciones site specific como son El Instante Fundación

, y otros de los que estamos muy orgullosos, y que continúan apostando por dar visibilidad a un festival de imagen en movimiento como es PROYECTOR: gratuito, internacional y de una calidad indiscutible. Estas sedes son: CRUCE ARTE Y PENSAMIENTO

La programación, un año más, está compuesta por casi un centenar de obras de diversas tipologías: piezas interactivas, videoarte experimental, videoinstalaciones monocanal y multicanal, y obras creadas site specific en exclusiva para el festival. Los vídeos han sido producidos por artistas, bien seleccionados por un jurado especializado mediante convocatoria, bien invitados internacionales seleccionados por el festival, así como comisariados desarrollados por directores de festivales, museos o proyectos independientes que nos presentarán una selección de obras. En los últimos años hemos querido ampliar nuestro ya conocido territorio europeo y latinoamericano para acercarnos a mundos más desconocidos, como hicimos el año pasado con Sudeste Asiático, y con Oriente Medio éste. Además queremos destacar que son prácticamente todo mujeres las que están al frente de los comisariados y proyectos más potentes de estos países. Tenemos la gran oportunidad de conocerlas personalmente, pues vendrán por partida doble, para mostrar estas selecciones, y para participar en los encuentros profesionales, encuentros que nos abren las puertas a entender las problemáticas de cada una de sus propuestas. Tampoco nos olvidamos de dar la voz a los propios creadores con los encuentros de artistas, que serán junto a los talleres, piezas imprescindibles de nuestro festival.
Como sabéis no queremos centrarnos en una única temática anual, pues cerraría muchas puertas a tantísimos creadores internacionales; por ello creamos muestras para cada sede, con temáticas siempre variadas. Este año son: “Los feminismos”, “La manipulación del paisaje”, “Ciudades frontera”, “El cuerpo sonoro”, “Hablando de Dios”, “Arquitecturas de ficción”.... Estas temáticas nos ayudan a definir las coyunturas de nuestra sociedad, desde un punto de vista político y social, pero sin descuidar la reflexión, la ironía y experimentación que nos caracteriza.
Destacamos también la colaboración con la Colección Teresa Sapey
que ofrece algunas de sus mejores obras para el festival.
A pesar del distanciamiento que nos obligará esta nueva edición y de las novedades que todavía ni somos capaces de imaginar, seguimos esperando una amplia acogida física con cerca de unas 60.000 personas y aproximadamente unas 600.000 interacciones en RRSS.
Recordemos que el videoarte nació con rabia, como crítica a los medios, al mercado, a una sociedad pasiva que solo tenía como única verdad el televisor y lo que de él nos querían vender. Hoy más que nunca creemos que los artistas deben ser las piezas claves que hagan preguntas, que nos abran posibilidades que hasta ahora ni éramos capaces de imaginar.We are facing the most complex edition after the dozen already held by PROYECTOR / Video Art Festival. We do not want to make an online exhibition, because our festival has as a differentiating element to try to show the works of the artists with the characteristics that they request, which always leads us to give great importance to the relationship of the work with the space that welcomes it and in relation to the viewer himself. We enjoy multiscreen video installations, immersive works, those that require the viewer to be activated. The challenges that lead us to make proposals in rooms as varied as institutional, museum, private galleries, independent spaces, old porn cinemas and especially the use of public space are also a great pleasure. The facades of buildings such as the Medialab Prado and projections in social spaces such as ¡ésta es una PLAZA! allow us to surprise and surprise ourselves in central neighborhoods of Madrid. We have always wanted to be a multi-site, decentralized festival that reaches different audiences, video art lovers and potential new fans, who accompany us and share 12 days of really intense programming with us year after year. Some 12 events spread over 12 venues that will host an extensive selection of pieces from the best national and international contemporary video art. In addition to the venues already mentioned, it is always a pleasure to have new additions, such as White Lab. We also once again highlight spaces that allow us to develop new works, interventions and site-specific video installations such as El Instante Fundación* and AVAM Extension, and others of which we are very proud, and who continue to bet on giving visibility to a festival of moving images such as PROYECTOR: free, international and of indisputable quality. These venues are: Colección INELCOM*, Cruce, Institut Français de Madrid, Quinta del Sordo, Sala Alcalá 31, Sala El Águila y Secuencia de Inútiles

The program, for yet another year, is made up of almost a hundred works of various types: interactive pieces, experimental video art, single-channel and multi-channel video installations, and site-specific works created exclusively for the festival. The videos have been produced by artists, either selected by a specialized jury through a call, or international guests selected by the festival, as well as curators developed by directors of festivals, museums or independent projects that will present us with a selection of works. In recent years we have wanted to expand our already known European and Latin American territory to approach more unknown worlds, as we did last year with Southeast Asia, and with the Middle East. We also want to highlight that practically all women are in charge of the most powerful curators and projects in these countries. We have a great opportunity to meet them personally, as they will come twice to show these selections, and to participate in professional meetings, meetings that open the doors to understand the problems of each of their proposals. Nor do we forget to give voice to the creators themselves with the artists' meetings, which will be, together with the workshops, essential pieces of our festival.
As you know, we do not want to focus on a single annual theme, since it would close many doors to so many international creators; therefore we create samples for each venue, with always varied themes. This year they are: "Feminisms", "Landscape manipulation", "Border cities", "The sound body", "Speaking of God", "Fictional architectures" .... These themes help us define the conjunctures of our society, from a political and social point of view, but without neglecting the reflection, irony and experimentation that characterizes us.
We also highlight the collaboration with the Teresa Sapey Collection which offers some of their best works for the festival, and the impressive INELCOM Collection*, curated by Javier Quilis and advised by Vicente Todolí, which is repeated as the venue and where fifty audiovisual works can be visited .
Despite the distancing that this new edition will force us and the news that we are not yet capable of imagining, we continue to expect a wide physical reception with about 60,000 people and approximately 600,000 interactions in the RRSS.
Let's remember that video art was born with rage, as a criticism of the media, the market, a passive society that only had the only truth as the television and what they wanted to sell us. Today more than ever we believe that artists should.
